Mick Fanning
3 x World Champion

Mick Fanning
3 x World Champion
Mick Fanning is more than a surfing legend—he is a symbol of resilience, perseverance, and community strength. A three-time World Champion (2007, 2009, 2013) with 22 Championship Tour victories, Mick’s career has been defined by triumphs, personal challenges, and an unshakable competitive spirit. Named Australian Male Surfer of the Year nine times, his journey has been one of overcoming setbacks and emerging stronger - values that resonate deeply with the restoration industry.
Born in Penrith, Australia, Mick’s path to success was anything but easy. Raised in a hardworking family, his childhood was shaped by tough lessons, sibling rivalries, and an innate determination to push forward. The tragic loss of his older brother Sean fuelled his drive to achieve greatness, yet his journey was marked by further adversity—career-threatening injuries, personal loss, and the infamous 2015 shark encounter that forever changed his perspective. Through it all, Mick developed a mindset of adaptability, focus, and leadership—principles essential not only in professional sports but in any field that demands resilience, including disaster recovery and restoration.
Mick’s connection to the restoration industry became even more personal in 2022 when the devastating Lismore floods swept through northern New South Wales. Seeing the catastrophic impact firsthand, Mick didn’t hesitate to take action. In the initial stages of the disaster, he was among a group of individuals who braved the rising floodwaters on jet skis, rescuing stranded victims and delivering food and essential supplies to those in need. Recognizing the long road to recovery ahead, Mick personally used his platform to raise awareness and funds, securing millions of dollars in aid for families and businesses fighting to rebuild their lives. He continues to support flood victims through ongoing fundraising efforts, including hosting an annual golf day, which has raised over $1.8 million since its inception.
